Conference Languages: Albanian and English
The Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Prishtina, is pleased to invite scholars from Kosovo and abroad to participate in the Second International Conference of the Department of Sociology, to be held on 25 November 2026 under the theme "Social Movements and the Dynamics of Change: Mobilisation, Transformation, and Resistance."
In a world characterised by uncertainty, political polarisation, technological acceleration, climate crises, migration, and the reconfiguration of social relations, social movements remain key forces in articulating social change and challenging existing structures of power. Alongside processes of mobilisation and collective action, contemporary societies are also characterised by resistance, counter-movements, and emerging forms of conflict that shape the direction and intensity of social transformation.
The conference aims to provide a forum for discussing the processes of mobilisation, change, and resistance by bringing into dialogue developments in Albanian society, the region, and the wider global context. It welcomes contributions that examine social movements as agents of change, while also analysing the conditions, limits, and consequences of collective action across diverse political, economic, cultural, and technological contexts.
Within the framework of the conference's central theme, we welcome contributions on the following topics, without being limited exclusively to them:
1. Protest and Political Horizons
2. Populism and Democracy Today
3. Inequality, Exclusion, and Social Mobilisation
4. Youth, Mobilisation, and Social Activism: Potentials and Limits of Engagement
